One Week from Today! (and a few other thoughts)

My first appointment is one week from today.  I'm so excited, I can't hardly stand it!  That means, that next weekend we can share this wonderful joyful news with our families!

I read today that Wolfgang is the size of a blueberry, and that baby has doubled in size from last week.  Wolfgang's little heart has been beating for two weeks now, and I so look forward to being able to hear it for the first time.  I think it will be one of the most amazing days of my life!  What a true gift from God!

I have already been looking at maternity clothes.  I know, I know, I still have a while before I'll need them, and I should be very happy to still be in my normal clothes, but I just can't wait to start showing!  (Yes, I know I'll regret saying that soon enough!)  And, since I will be quite large through the summer (the most wonderful time of the year!) and won't be able to wear my cute bikinis, I have already been looking at maternity swimsuits **I realize that I probably won't even want to be seen in a swimsuit, but humor me**.  Anyway, if you know me, this doesn't surprise you much, because I LOVE TO BUY SWIMSUITS!  I have about a million of them, and I love them all! :)  A bit shallow, I know, but I do love to shop!  So, as I was looking, I realized that whoever decides on the fabrics, and styles for maternity swimwear must be an old man!  Seriously, where are all the cute suits?!  Just because a woman is pregnant, doesn't mean she wants an old lady swimsuit to wear!  Looks like I have a lot of internet searching to do!

At 7 weeks today, I am feeling just pretty darn good.  I've only gotten sick once, and have not been feeling queezy at all.  I'm just so exhausted, and it's so much worse when I'm at home and not at work.  I think it's because I know I can take a nap, and who doesn't enjoy an afternoon nap??  Anyway, I have found that I'm pretty energized after I workout.  That's such a good thing - it's keeping me motivated to get off my lazy bum, and get some exercise b/c I know when I'm done how great I'll feel!  And speaking of working out, I believe I'll end this crazy entry that's been all over the place with my thoughts, and go get my tush in gear!

How good are your secret keeping abilities??

So, I'm finding it VERY HARD to keep this secret (and I know it's difficult for our parents)!  Doug & I decided that we'd wait to tell everyone until after our first appointment at 8 weeks.  We're so excited, we just want everyone to know!  BUT, we will wait!

Last night was my brother's birthday.  So, we went out to eat at Mike's favorite place with mom, dad & grandma.  I don't think it would have been so difficult, but grandma just found out that my cousin Jeff & his wife Angie are expecting their third.  So, she was talking about how this would be her 18th great-grandkid.  Let me tell ya, it took all I had not to burst out and say "GRANDMA, WE'RE HAVING YOUR 19TH!!"  It was also just a little scary to see grandma, because she seems to have this "power" to sense little things that are different.  Normally, I would have had a beer to go along with our chicken, but, Doug got the beer to himself.  I kinda figured she would have said something about that, thankfully she didn't.  But, she'll know soon enough!

On another note:

It amazes me how before I was pregnant, one of my favorite foods was grilled chicken breast.  Tasty, and good for you.  But now, ugh!  The thought of it makes me sick!  I'm hoping that this doesn't last my whole pregnancy, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that.  Oh, and oranges sound amazing!  Can't get enough of 'em!

I've been feeling pretty good.  I got sick for the first time yesterday afternoon.  Not fun.  Other than that, I'm just extremely tired!  But, I can deal with that pretty easily.  :)

The Start of Something Amazing...

On Thursday, January 14, 2010, I found out I was pregnant!!  I can hardly believe it!  As of today, I am a little over 6 weeks along, and have my frist Dr. appointment scheduled for Friday, February 5 with Dr. Jeffrey Cox.

When Doug & I started talking about whether we were ready to start a family, we both would say "yeah, I think we're ready"...only a few seconds later to say "um, maybe not quite yet."  It's not that we didn't want to have children, but the thought of it never being the two of us again is a lot to take in.  We met when we were 15 and have been together since we were 16.  We've always only known "us".  But we decided we were ready, and here we are.  God has listened to our prayers, and we are so happy to be expecting our first child, or, as Doug & I will be calling the baby for now "Wolfgang".  (Doug told me when we were younger that he would have a son named Wolfgang someday...well obviously, that's never going to happen, so this is my compromise.)  :)

I have been planning for a long time how I would tell Doug when I found out.  I didn't want to just blurt it out to him, I wanted it to be special.  So, I bought a bib that says "I Love Daddy", and wrapped it with my positive test, and attatched to the outside of the package was this poem:

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don't yet have a name.

You can't yet hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.

But all will change come September;
That's whem Mom says I'm due.
I am your new son or daughter;
And I can't wait to meet you!

All I ask between now and then
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait;
Because of all the love we'll know!

So what I have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
of the Stefan family!

the finished product :)

I think it was the perfect way to tell him!  I couldn't imagine doing it any other way!!

Then, we told our parents on Sunday, January 24.  I had ordered a t-shirt that has "Baby on Board" on the front of it, and on the back has "Stefan 2010".  Then, we bought a couple of baby picture frames, and I printed off a note that said "Baby Stefan, 1st Adorable Picture Available, September, 2010!" and added it to the frame.  We walked in to both places, with me wearing the shirt, and told them that we saw something at the mall that we knew they would love, and gave them the frame (it was in a bag).  Then they opened it.  I think it took just a second to register, but the reaction was awesome!  Quite the surprise, I believe! :)

Our surprise for our parents!

One picture frame :)

And, the second picture frame :)

p.s.  Here's a picture of my tummy @ 5 weeks.  so long flat tummy!
